Planning and Promotion
Date, Time, and Location
-
Check the school calendar for conflicts (i.e. finals, school concerts, games, ACT, etc.). The date should be set by the end of February or early March to allow plenty of time to advertise. The earlier your tryout dates, the more time you have to order uniforms, supplies, register for summer camp, etc.
-
Tryouts normally last 2-3 hours. Take into consideration how many individuals are trying out when setting the time.
-
Reserve the school gymnasium or cafeteria. Make sure that you have enough tables and chairs for your judges, a sound system, water, etc.
